As a result of the child's transition from the family environment to a new environment, which is school, it is possible for some school-related disturbances to emerge.

1) School Avoidance Disorder:

School-aged children are affected, where they avoid going to school due to anxiety or social factors within the school (lack of friends, feeling rejected by peers, or bullying).

2) Post-school disorder:

"After returning from school, the child shows signs of anxiety, anger, and nervous agitation due to the pressure and tension experienced within the school environment."

The child shows psychosomatic symptoms, like somatic disorders.

Emotional factors can manifest themselves in children as physical symptoms. Instead of crying, the child may show signs of distress through different parts of their body. These symptoms are controlled by the autonomic nervous system, which translates emotional stress into physiological changes. In other words, these symptoms result from the interaction between organic and psychological diseases, leading to recurrent physical symptoms in children such as headaches, stomach aches, nausea, diarrhea, and increased heart rate. These symptoms often occur during times of stress and psychological pressure, such as headaches during exams or stomach aches during school hours, because children do not have the ability to cope with these psychological pressures.

3) Academic difficulties:

It is a disorder that disrupts the natural learning process due to various reasons related to the family, the school itself, and other factors.

  • Students' struggle with their low abilities reflects negatively on their understanding of the subjects and their inability to achieve good grades.
  • Most students have a hard time concentrating due to several factors, including staying up late, not getting enough rest, poor eating habits, and the child's mental state.
  • Some students' hatred for learning and studying is based on a combination of family upbringing, social status, and the teachers' poor treatment of the students.
  • The student's struggle with some psychological problems resulting from parental separation or psychological and nervous pressure and tension.
  • The parents' lack of attention and their constant preoccupation with work and social life, while the child needs love, care, and nurturing for their mental well-being.

What is the role of the family in building a balanced personality for children?

  • The family environment plays a crucial role in developing a child's abilities, as it provides the necessary conditions for psychological and social growth. In this environment, a child learns social interaction, participation in daily life, and personal independence.
  • "In all previous stages, we find that the child is influenced by the family, which represents the medium that transfers all knowledge and experiences that prevail in society, after translating them into practical methods in raising children. This includes providing sufficient space for them to pursue their interests and hobbies inside and outside the home, discussing topics that interest them, and encouraging them to explore."
  • The love between parents and their children is one of the most important factors for a child's sense of security. The mother holds the primary place in the child's existence during their childhood, and she shapes their entire world. When a mother surrounds her child with her warm love and tenderness, the child feels safe and reassured.
  • As the child grows, the father's role becomes more important in providing security for him. When he enters school, it is the teachers' responsibility to create a sense of security and reassurance in the hearts of the youth.
  • The child who obeys every command issued by the father or mother may be comfortable, but he will be a rigid child. There must be an atmosphere of cooperation and understanding in the house in order to achieve the goals that the family seeks, which is to eliminate the behavioral problems facing children and to aim at solving all these problems in a way that ensures the child's healthy and balanced growth for a bright future.
